Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Vs iPhone 11 Pro Max Comparison

With the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, Samsung has launched a new flagship of the extra class. We compared the two heavyweights from Samsung and Apple. Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G Vs iPhone 11 Pro Max: the direct comparison.

Instead of an S20e variant, Samsung is opting for the new Pro Series version Galaxy S20 Plus with the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. You can find out what the new device has and how it differs from Apple's current premium flagship, the iPhone 11 Pro Max, here.

Design and Display: duel of the giants

Both devices are not for small hands. At 6.5 inches, the iPhone is 11 Pro Max one of the largest smartphones from Apple. These are trumped by the massive 6.9 inches of the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. The Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G comes through the punch-hole-notch for the front camera and the side curved edge display virtually borderless, therefore. The Dynamic AMOLED display has a resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels with a density of 511 PPI. The 120 Hz frame rate provides for an especially liquid viewing experience.

Even the iPhone 11 Pro Max offers a high-resolution OLED display with 2,688 x 1,242 pixels and a density of 458 PPI. Due to the rounded corners, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is quite comfortable to hold. was not given here to the characteristic Apple-notch for the front camera and the sensors for face recognition at the top.

Performance: New processors for full power

Both the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the two newest and most powerful processors of the respective manufacturers are installed. Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G-house Exynos-990 processor inserted, the only end of last year was presented. The devices of the new Galaxy S20 series are the first models from Samsung with this brand new chip. With the A13 Bionic chip, the iPhone 11 Pro Max currently has the fastest iPhone processor under the hood, which promises new gaming fun, especially when it comes to gaming. Compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, which uses 12 or gigantic 16 gigabytes of RAM, the iPhone 11 Pro Max only uses 6 gigabytes of RAM. When it comes to the operating system, both devices use the latest versions, Android 10 and iOS 13.

Camera: triple camera vs. Quad Camera

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is the first Apple device to be equipped with a triple camera. The ultra-wide-angle, wide-angle and Telephoto sensor are arranged together with the LED flash in a square frame and each has a resolution of 12 megapixels. The wide-angle and telephoto sensor is equipped with an image stabilizer which allows 10x digital zoom. A special highlight is the so-called deep-fusion mode, which switches on automatically in low light. This enables detailed and color-intensive photos to be taken at dusk or even at night. The front camera also resolves with 12 megapixels for selfies in the best quality.

The structure of the quad-camera module, which is also in the new models of Samsung's A-series is installed differs in Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G compared with the other models of the Galaxy series S20. The camera module is set off with a gray border instead of simply black. The relatively conspicuous lettering with a reference to the 100-fold zoom in addition to the periscope lens does not hit fans Samsung with the approval of all. The performance of the camera offers then to provide the full range. The main sensor has a gigantic 108 megapixels and the 48-megapixel Telephoto sensor and the 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor are also impressive. The front camera has a resolution of 40 megapixels and guarantees excellent individual and group selfies.

Battery and storage: long run times and lots of space

The battery capacity of the iPhone 11 Pro Max is, as typical for Apple, significantly smaller than that of the competitor. With 3,500 mAh, the built-in battery has the best battery life of any iPhone so far. Videos can be played for up to 20 hours and the battery lasts a whole day under normal use. The quick-charge function using the 18-watt power supply have you back full in a short time power. However, it cannot keep up with the above-average 5,000 mAh battery of the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. This is clearly at the top of the smartphones with the best battery, but a 6.9-inch display also requires a lot of battery capacity. With normal use, however, it should not be necessary to plug it back in until after two days. The Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is fully operational again in around 70 minutes thanks to the quick charging function with a 45-watt power supply.

You will not get memory problems with your Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. The standard variant is equipped with an internal memory of 128 gigabytes, also, there is a variant with 512 gigabytes, which is only available in the color cosmic black. If that's still not enough, you can expand the storage capacity by up to one terabyte using a micro SD card. The iPhone 11 Pro Max also offers you enough storage capacity if you choose the 256 or 512 GB variant, which is also offered in addition to the modest 64 GB of internal storage. An expansion via SD card is not possible here, but without this option, there should be enough space for all your photos, videos, and your favorite apps.

Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G Vs iPhone 11 Pro Max: duel at eye level

Both top models are quite impressive and convince with high-quality technical features. Both the iPhone 11 Pro Max and the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G are equipped with a large screen and the latest and most powerful processors from the respective manufacturers. The screen quality of the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G is better due to the higher resolution and the smooth playback with the 120 Hz refresh rate. Both devices are also available with 512 gigabytes in a large memory variant, whereby the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G can even be expanded by one terabyte. The biggest and most decisive differences are in the battery capacity and the camera. With its gigantic 5,000 mAh battery, the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G beats the iPhone 11 Pro Max by far.
