Motorola Moto G8 Play Full Specifications, Features and Price

Today, finally, Motorola has made the eighth generation of its Moto G family official and, together with the Moto G8 Plus, the Moto G8 Play has been released. This new mid-range model has confirmed everything that had leaked so far on it, including the triple rear camera and the V-shaped notch. It shares many specifications with the Motorola One Macro announced a few days ago.

Moto G8 Play Features

  • 6.2 inch IPS LCD with HD + resolution
  • Helio P70 processor
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 32 GB storage + Micro SD
  • Android 9 Pie
  • Rear Camera: 13 MP + 8 MP (angular) + 2 MP (depth)
  • 8 MP front camera
  • 4,000 mAh battery with fast charge
  • Rear fingerprint reader

Renovated on the outside, improved on the inside

The new Moto G8 Play has replaced the elongated notch of its predecessor (the Moto G7 Play ) with a much more discreet V-shaped notch where the 8-megapixel front camera is housed. With this, the screen, which has grown to 6.2 inches, achieves greater use of the front, although it does maintain the HD + resolution.

For the brain of this new phone, Motorola has opted for Mediatek and its Helio P70, a processor with 12 nm architecture and eight cores. It is accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of expandable internal storage with a micro SD card up to 512 GB. It runs under the Android 9 Pie operating system and is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery with fast charging.

The biggest change from the Moto G7 Play is the rear camera, which now has three sensors and is housed in a vertical module.

If you look at your rear camera, we see important changes from the previous model: Motorola has added two more sensors and replaced the circular module with a module aligned vertically in a corner. The result is a camera with artificial intelligence functions that has a main sensor of 13 megapixels, a wide-angle of 8 megapixels with 117 degrees of field of view and the third sensor of 2 megapixels for depth calculations.

The most important features of the Moto G8 Play are completed with a USB-C port, a headphone jack on the top frame and the usual Motorola logo that serves as a fingerprint reader.

Moto G8 Play versions and price

Unlike his brother, the Moto G8 Plus, which has been presented simultaneously in Spain and Brazil, the Moto G8 Play has only been announced in the Carioca country, so, for now, we do not know what markets will arrive.

What we do know is that the Moto G8 Play will be available in two colors, black and cherry red, and in a single configuration with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of expandable internal storage. In Mexico, for example, its commercialization has already been confirmed at 4,999 Mexican pesos, equivalent to about 262 dollars.
